Gutter cleaning

Cleared, and inspected while we’re up there.

The clearing is straightforward. The useful part is what we find doing it — whether your system is actually sized and pitched to handle a monsoon storm, or whether it has been overflowing for reasons a cleaning won’t fix.

What we do

We clear the runs and downspouts, flush the system, and check pitch, hangers, seams and outlets while we have access. You get told what we found, including if the answer is that everything is fine.

Timing that matters here

Monsoon season runs June 15 to September 30. A gutter that has been collecting palo verde litter and roof grit since spring is at its worst exactly when it first has to perform. If you are going to do this once a year, do it in late May or early June.

Being straight with you

Cleaning is a small part of what we do — our work is mostly installation, guards and drainage. If your gutters need clearing every few months, the honest recommendation is usually guards, or a look at whether the system itself is right for your roof. We would rather solve it than sell you a recurring visit.

Questions

How often should Arizona gutters be cleaned?
Less often than in leafy climates, but not never. The right cadence depends on what overhangs your roof — homes with mature palo verde, mesquite or palms need it far more than homes with a clear roofline. A good rule is to check before monsoon season starts in mid-June, since that is when the system has to work.
Do I need cleaning or do I have a bigger problem?
This is worth knowing before you spend money. If your gutters overflow in storms but are not actually full of debris, cleaning will not fix it — the system is undersized, mispitched, or blocked somewhere structural. We inspect while we clear, so you find out either way.
Should I just get guards instead?
If something overhangs your roofline, guards usually cost less over time than repeated cleanings. If nothing does, guards are a weaker case. There is an honest breakdown on the gutter guards page, including where micro-mesh falls short in a dust climate.
